Oral Cancer Treatment Methods

Oral Cancer is one of the most frequent tumor type diagnosed in India. According to the Globocan 2012 and National Institute of Cancer Prevention and Research Statistics, Oral Cancer is the most common malignant growth found in men that is about 11.28% of all cancer types whereas 4.3% of all cancer types found in women. The stats also say that in 2012, 36463 men and 15361 women died because of Oral tumor in India  organoid.

Surgery
Surgery is a type of treatment in which doctors go to remove the infected area, surgically.

Surgery to remove a tumor: The doctors/ surgeons go to cut a tumor along with a little margin to ensure that there are no infected cells left in the mouth. If a tumor is small in size than minor surgery is sufficient but in the case of a large tumor, more extensive surgery options taken by the doctors.

Surgery to remove cancer that has spread to the neck: If the Oral Cancer cells have started to infect the nearby lymph nodes and tissues of the neck, Surgeons go to remove the cancerous lymph nodes and the tissue which are affected in the neck, surgically called Neck Dissection. Neck Dissection is the surgical method through which the metastasis of neck lymph node is controlled. Also, Neck Dissection will leave a scar of your neck, but that won’t affect your body’s immunity of fighting against foreign cells.
